Antonio Gramsci – Italian Marxist philosopher, Communist, journalist, linguist, writer, and politician

“Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media by transforming the consciousness of society” – Antonio Gramsci

“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born; now is the time of monsters” – Antonio Gramsci

“Every State is a dictatorship” – Antonio Gramsci

Our nation has been pushed inexorably towards the left for decades. Has this been caused by a simple evolutionary process – a normal outcome of a wealthy and successful society falling into middle age? Or does it have some deeper cause – a more active agent of change?

This question seems to of particular relevance today as the Cultural Wars have broken open – Progressives in near-hysteria, protests ongoing. Watching these events unfold I am reminded of a simple truth.

The present always has a past.

The Dialectic Process was created by Georg Hegel. The Dialectic Process was used as a process to describe change. Hegel, a social philosopher, used the Dialectic Process to describe how societies could come to a state of more rational, elevated thinking.

Karl Marx took Hegel’s idea of the Dialectic Process and changed it subtly. Marx used it as a process to describe social change. There are three key parts to the Dialectic Process:

The first is the Thesis – or Starting Point. A better term might be the Status Quo – where we are today.

Marx believed that in order for things to change there would have to be some form of opposition to the Status Quo. This opposition is the second part – the Antithesis – or the mechanism for change. It is the people and ideas that do not support the status quo – the opposing group.

When the Thesis and the Antithesis meet – or clash – you have the third component – Synthesis. Another word for Synthesis might be Revolution. Marx believed that Synthesis was Progress – a necessary confrontation that would allow for society to emerge as a better place for most people involved.

Marx believed the Dialectic Process to be a true process – an important distinction – as a true Process does not end – it is ongoing. In other words, once we reach Synthesis the process will start again. Synthesis will now become the Thesis – the Status Quo. And new Opposition will arise.

And that – in very simplistic terms – is how Marx perceived society progressing over time.

Marx also established the two basic divisions of a society – the “structure” or economic base that gives rise to the two classes – worker and capital owner; and the “superstructure” of institutions and beliefs that surrounds the economic base.

Antonio Gramsci, a Marxist theorist and a founding member of the Communist Party of Italy, took this societal division a step further when he broke the “superstructure” into coercive (governmental, legal) and non-coercive (church, school, political party) elements. Gramsci defined the non-coercive elements as “civil society”. So Gramsci saw society as being comprised of three elements: the economic base, the coercive element and the non-coercive element.

Gramsci then created the Theory of Cultural Hegemony – the way in which nations use cultural institutions to maintain power in capitalist societies. In Gramsci’s view, the governing class – in order to succeed, maintain power and the status quo – must persuade those being governed to accept and even embrace the social, moral and political values held by the governing class. This is a subtle but crucial distinction. Gramsci felt that the ruling class’ primary method of control came from the non-coercive element. The coercive element was only used as a last resort.

Hegemony, Gramsci believed, was created through society’s institutions – the family, church, schools, economy, universities and government. These institutions were the bonds that cemented the ruled to the rulers.

His answer – his response – to Cultural Hegemony was exceedingly simple. Turn the process back on the governing hierarchy. Change the way institutions work – change the family, church, school – change social norms and beliefs. This would require the introduction of an entirely new set of values and beliefs – a new morality. It would also be slow.

Gramsci embraced gradualism – a policy of gradual reform as a means to his end. He recognized that his process must be lengthy, methodical and persistent. He advocated evolution over revolution – or as he put it “a long march through the institutions”. A slow transformation from within. …

Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals:

My comment on Gramsci: We have been dealing with the far-left slow-roll strategy of Antonio Gramsci to bring down the western democracies including the USA for a long time. Key institutions have been infiltrated and controlled by the far-left organic intellectuals and permanent persuaders, as Gramsci called them, under the Marxist plan which Gramsican gradualists call “The Long March Through the Institutions.” They’ve been at it for generations for the last 100 years and are at the apex of their hegemony in the institutions and thus control virtually all of our national institutions. If Trump had not won the election they would have come forward and out of the woodwork and totally taken over under Clinton and moved the nation at a quicker pace to a Socialist one, which status to the Communists is a temporary state, and just one more step towards Communism, which end state they believe is a Utopian form of government. They must be stopped now. We need to learn more about the enemy within and their tactics, projects, and strategy. Know thy enemy! Read what Jeff Carlson summarized. I’ve read lengthy works about Gramsci and what Jeff Carlson summarized about Gramsci is excellent.

The article excerpted and linked to above by Jeff Carlson is spot-on about Gramsci and a good summary of Gramsci’s long-term political agenda to bring socialism and communism to the western democratic nations. Modern “Progressives” believe in and use his tactics and strategy all the time. And they know what they are “progressing” towards … Socialism … and then in the very long-term Communism. Learn what Jeff Carlson is sharing in his article and spread it to your friends and associates and anyone and everyone who needs to learn that what we see is happening in our country, and the co-opting and destruction of our institutions and changing the meaning of words in our language, is not an accident. Gramsci was educated as a linguist. He advocated the manipulation of language to further political goals. What we are experiencing is the result of the Gramscian long-term plan all along. We are just the generation in which we see it coming to full fruition and a head.

What we are feeling and seeing now, that we know something is wrong in our country, we can all now understand that it has has a name “Gramscism”. It’s “progress” must be stopped before it is too late. President Donald Trump must be re-elected. They tried to cripple him in his first term at every step. Now he knows what he’s up against. He will be the only one with enough power, authority, and courage to take them on if he gets a second term. Give him the opportunity to save our constitutional republic. Re-elect Donald Trump.

The Cloward-Piven Strategy – The Progressive Left’s Long Term Plan is Now Collapsing Our Economy.

We are now in the end game of the far left’s Cloward-Piven Strategy.  The far left Progressives lead by Obama want our economic systems to collapse. Read this battle plan of the far left, the Cloward-Piven Strategy.  | @ CDR Kerchner’s Blog

Read the Cloward-Piven Strategy launched in 1966 and for which “America’s Chickens are now Coming Home to Roost” with the current completely out of control spending and Debt Crisis.

You can track the latest progressive far left spending binge launch point back to when the Progressive and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) controlled Democratic Party took control of both houses of the Congress in 2007 .  They launched their spending binge and created and orchestrated crisis after crisis to increase federal spending. Unfortunately the “compassionate conservative” President Bush in the White House was not a true fiscal conservative and went along for the most part with the Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid progressives lead spending craze as a necessary response to the progressive movement’s created and media driven societal “crisis” mentality. Now four years later we see the end result of this latest binge … we’re at the tipping point and nearing or in the end-stage crisis point described in the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

CRISIS! … one of the far left’s favorite words to get what they want. Especially when they deliberately manufacture and/or orchestrate one by not allowing the passing of a federal budget in the Progressive/Democrat controlled U.S. Senate for over two years and procrastinating on the debt issue to the last minute after further larding up the social programs and superfluous spending to extreme levels via continuing resolutions for the last two years.

Read this disarmingly and nobly titled Cloward and Piven Strategy paper, “The Weight of the Poor – A Strategy to End Poverty”, which cloaks the real purpose of the strategy, that is, it describes the progressive socialist plan to collapse the U.S. economy and install a socialist economic system and government. This has been the far left’s long term strategy and plan for decades in order to achieve their real goal,  abandoning a constitutional republic and installing national socialism as the American form of government:

Obama has been practicing the Cloward-Piven Strategy for years as a Community Organizer and is now doing so on steroids since he usurped his way into the Oval Office:

Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals tactics have been used to implement the Cloward-Piven Strategy for decades.  Obama has been applying these tactics to implement this strategy all along in his rise in politics.  Alinsky taught the far left operatives to always couch their arguments in that they are doing it for and/or to protect or help the “Middle Class”.   “Middle Class” is another one of the far left’s propaganda phrases that they use in virtually every speech or talking point.  In reality the goal of these progressive socialists is to take from those who “HAVE” and give it away for free to those they label as the “HAVE NOTS”, the dependent class that the far left has created in the last 50 years — their political power base such as unions, social-welfare federal program beneficiaries and the federal employees who staff them, and other special interest lobby groups funding them and delivering votes to them to gain more power.  Power is what they want. They just use the middle class votes to get more power which is why they pander to the middle class in their speeches.  The progressives don’t really give a darn for the middle class.  Their real interest is in increasing the dependent class.  When 51% of the voters are in the dependent class and depend on the federal government for a substantial percentage of their income or benefits, they will never vote for spending cuts and in fact vote for more and more for themselves. That is what the socialist want and its their road to totally socialism and the road to ultimate serfdom where everyone will be dependent on the federal government for their existence.  Just read Saul Alinsky’s book Rules for Radicals.  They only want to B.S. the middle class into voting with them (their so called HAVE NOT constituency) which is why the term “Middle Class” is mentioned so prominently in all their speeches.  Key words they use all the time in their speeches and political campaigns as taught by Alinsky — Hope, Change, Middle Class, and Crisis.  Listen to one of Obama’s speeches and count the number of times he uses these Alinsky taught key words.  Read Alinsky’s book in summary form here:

Obama’s Political Action Bible – Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky – 1971

Obama learned his lesson well. I am proud to see that my father’s model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.” –Letter from L. DAVID ALINSKY, son of Neo-Marxist Saul Alinsky

Obama helped fund ‘Alinsky Academy’: “The Woods Fund, a nonprofit on which Obama served as paid director from 1999 to December 2002, provided startup funding and later capital to the Midwest Academy…. Obama sat on the Woods Fund board alongside William Ayers, founder of the Weather Underground domestic terrorist organization.…  ‘Midwest describes itself as ‘one of the nation’s oldest and best-known schools for community organizations, citizen organizations and individuals committed to progressive social change.’… Midwest teaches Alinsky tactics of community organizing.”
“‘The organizer’s first job is to create the issues or problems,’ and ‘organizations must be based on many issues.’ The organizer ‘must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression. He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them, for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act … An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent.'”
Saul Alinsky wrote this tribute to Lucifer in the epigraph of his book: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history… the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.
